Over the first 26 years of my life I came to know all too well what Ohio wasn't, what the state didn't have to offer.
Then I went away and truly immersed myself in some of the most beautiful natural places in the United States for seven months.
About this time last year I had no good choice but to return to Ohio to pursue my next goal. Wanting to make the most of my time here, I made a conscious choice to see Ohio for what it can offer, as if I'd never lived here before.
For just about twelve months now, I've made the extra effort to go here or there when I could've just stayed home.
What I can tell you for sure, I've felt parts of this state resonate with me in ways I never thought it could.
That's on me.
The state of Ohio didn't reveal itself to me.
I had to take down my own walls to see what I had been missing.
