I still don't have my van, or my Jeep...
Approaching nearly two months now with the van out of my hands getting a single propane tank installed, I haven't had much to write about.
So today, I added a compelling argument to the Politics blog: "Science Shows Democrats Should Love Trump’s Tax Plan".
I also posted some thoughts below I collected this week as I passed my 1000th Instagram post.
Over the last two years I've posted a different picture almost every day on Instagram.
With this being my 1,000th post I want to share a specific but universal message:
Nothing happens at the moment of measurement.
Nothing happens on your 1,000th Instagram post.
Nothing happens when you finish the Pacific Crest Trail. Nothing happens when you ride a bicycle across the United States.
Nothing happens when you earn an engineering degree. Nothing happens when you get the big raise. Nothing happens when you buy a new car.
I'll go further than my own experiences: Nothing happens when you take on more and more unwanted responsibilities to dress up your work resume and get the shiny new job. Nothing happens when you buy the big new house. Nothing happens when you work 17 years at the same company and finally get promoted to a position you've coveted. Nothing happens the day you retire.
Don't mistake this post for doom and gloom. I can tell you what does happen.
Something happens in the space between where you are now and what you've decided to pursue.
What "something" will mean to you will vary by what you pursue. If you pursue a given path by default, peer influence, or perhaps even by your own undefined soft choice you made a decade ago, the "something" that you will experience will not mean much to you in the end. You will be greeted by nothing and left disappointed by your time spent.
But if you pause and reflect, and decide to pursue the objectives of your innermost thoughts, when you call your own shot, and do what you want to do, something magical happens that fills your experience so much so that at the end, there is only room for nothing.
